Unabridged
Milton Frederick was arguably the best player of Crowned Lieges of Destiny in the entire world. As the strategy coordinator for one of the top guilds, he was beginning to actually make a living from it. That was, until he was abducted by aliens.
Instead of your stereotypical grey aliens with big black eyes who like to perform anal probes upon unsuspecting victims for unknown reasons, the Collective had a more altruistic purpose. Sure, kidnapping 100 humans from Earth, ripping them away from their lives and families, and erasing their memories doesn’t sound great - but the way they saw it, the benefits would far outweigh these side-effects. Seriously, who wouldn’t want their consciousness trapped in a Station Core, subjected to the whims of a collection of alien races, and then ordered to defend against other hostile aliens for all eternity? They’d be immortal - so…bonus!
Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), the Station Core now known as Milton never arrived at his destination. Severely damaged and confused about what happened to him, he woke up to find himself trapped inside a massive chicken egg on a strange, primitive world filled with curious - and deadly - creatures.
Now, in order to survive the harsh environment, Milton has to rely on a snarky, foul-mouthed AI guide to show him what it means to be a Station Core. With her help, he might just live long enough to figure out a way to get off the planet - if only he wasn’t so afraid of squirrels….
Contains litRPG/gamelit elements such as level progression and experience, optional tables, no harems, and a heavy dungeon-core emphasis.

If I could leave a negative review I would. I cannot stand the “dungeon wisp” equivalent character. Absolutely cannot stand her. And if I cannot bear to hear one of the two *main characters* then I cannot enjoy the book.

Bad case of mc being the absolute best at a job, then sucking and needing hand holding at doing that one job. Also wouldn’t burying the core sealing the entrance then using its shell to to repair the reactor basically solve all his issues.

this book ignores basic rules of science and that really bugs me.

I don’t know what to say about this, its kinda annoying. The story started out interesting enough. I thought it would go the ways of Perimeter Defense (amazing book btw listen to it) followed by galactic politics and interactions between cores, personalities, and aliens. But that was stomped 10 mins after the initial set up. Next he is stuck building wooden stick traps with 0 skill due to convinient plot points basically forcing him to be lvl 1. THEN AGAIN, CONVINIENTLY. MAGIC EXISTS. And then it started to follow something vaguely like Bobiverse book 2 with bob and the deltans. So basically. At every point where i thought the story would get interesting, it subverts my expectations and gives me something way worse. Character development is kind of dumb too with his A.I almost being completely useless and no personality aside from liking to curse alot while the main character is supposed to be uber skilled gamer boi but touts basic mmo skills as later on which may seem impressive is its like a movie hacker explaining coding to real coders.. THEN, the oddly specific character quirks he gives the main character seems too specific and is obviously based off himself as a self imput. Then finally, the story is a bit linear. No subplots and constantly has to give backstory with the generic “I know you know this already but i’ll explain it to you anyway” to explain lore, not even subtly as if the author gave up on finding a more creative way to weave it in. Everything is super stiff and many times, annoying. But all in all, passable despite my gripes. Im starting book 2 and hoping it gets better, if it doesn’t i’ll drop.
