ABOUT THE BOOK

In an entirely hostile sea, Tyger ranges from the frozen north to the deadly confines of the Danish Sound - and plays a pivotal role in the situation ensuing after the czar’s sudden attack on Finland. This climaxes in the first clash of fleets between Great Britain and Russia in history. To the victor will be the prize of the Baltic!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Julian Stockwin was born 15 January 1944 and wanted to go to sea ever since he could remember. His mother said that as a toddler he went up to sailors on the street, and on one occasion dragged home a dead seabird because it smelled of the sea! He was entranced when his great uncle Tom Clay, a seaman in square-rigged ships who had sailed around the Horn in the “Cutty Sark”, took him over this ship. As a young boy he read everything about the sea and was especially terrified by a description of a great storm, but longed to go to sea to experience one.
He won a scholarship to a grammar school, but his mind was captivated by seeing low grey shapes far out to sea, outward bound to who knew where. He passed this sight every day on my way to school; his scholastic performance suffered!
In the hope of having the nonsense knocked out of him, his father sent him to a tough sea-training school. This only strengthened his resolve for a life at sea and at fifteen he joined the Royal Navy.
After leaving the Navy (rated Petty Officer) he practised as an educational psychologist. He worked for some time in Hong Kong, where he was commissioned into the Royal Naval Reserve.

Christian Rodska (born September 5, 1945 in Northumberland) is a versatile British actor who has appeared in many television and radio series and narrated a number of audiobooks.
